Maps as heirlooms
Though fashion drew her in, it is Phoebe’s hand-drawn maps that made her signature. Layered with rivers, animals, and cultural details, they are less cartography than portraits of place, whimsical yet precise, nostalgic yet alive.
Her patience shows: brands like Air Kenya, Fairmont, and Ritz-Carlton have commissioned them, yet each map retains her personal stamp of elegance.
What remains
Now, Phoebe looks to the future, a stationery brand, Sincerely Phoebe, and a coffee table book on Kenya’s national parks. Both projects deepen her mission: to create art as heirloom, art as inheritance, art as experience.
“When people encounter my work,” she says, “I want them to feel nostalgic. Like they’re holding a piece of the past, something beautiful, timeless. Something worth keeping forever.” □
